Kooky Robots Coming Soon to an Uber Near You!

Uber's march towards a future where even your delivery dude is a robot continues. They've joined forces with Avride, a company that makes those little delivery bots. Buckle up, because they're hitting the streets soon!

“We’re jazzed to team up with Uber,” gushed Avride CEO Dmitry Polishchuk. “We’re gonna have hundreds of these little guys scurrying around by 2025, and then—robotaxis! Bam!”

What's the Deal with Robot Deliveries?

These deliveries will start with sidewalk robots from Avride. Austin's the first lucky city, but Dallas and Jersey City are on deck for later this year.

Self-driving car deliveries and rides through Uber are on the horizon too. Dallas is up first, starting next year.

Avride says once these bots are up and running, ordering a qualifying delivery or ride on the Uber apps might get you a robotic helper. How's that for innovation?

Waymo and Uber Already Plotting Driverless Rides in Austin

Just last month, Waymo and Uber announced they're sending driverless cars to Austin. The Waymo One experience is already in three cities and now it's coming to Austin and Atlanta—places where Waymo's been testing its self-driving whips.

These driverless rides will start with Waymo’s all-electric Jaguar I-PACE cars. The fleet's gonna grow, they say. Hundreds of cars, eventually.
