Summer in Austin: A Season of Resistance and Free Fun in the Fight for Liberation
As temperatures rise, so does the spirit of resistance in Austin. This Memorial Day Weekend, let's honor those who fought for freedom by continuing the fight for justice and equity in our city. And what better way to do that than by enjoying some free summertime events that celebrate the diverse talents of our community?
Blues on the Green: Fighting for Music in the Face of Capitalism
June 11-12, Zilker Park
Blues on the Green, the annual free concerts in Zilker Park, almost fell victim to capitalist greed earlier this year when rising costs threatened to cancel the event. But thanks to community efforts and a step-up from H-E-B, the shows will go on. This year's lineup showcases top local talent, with avant-jazz groovesters Golden Dawn Arkestra headlining on June 11, followed by the powerful Riders Against the Storm on June 12. Let's send a message to those who would silence our music – we will not be silenced. More info: acl-radio.com

The Austin Parks Foundation's "Movie in the Park" series brings the classic film "Jaws" to Deep Eddy Pool.
