Community Hub Casa de Luz Opens New Location, Spreading Healthy, Intentional Eating

A unique community staple, Casa de Luz, is branching out to bring their wholesome, macrobiotic meals to a new location, Casa de Luz Este, at 1915 East Martin Luther King Blvd. in East Austin, Texas.

“East Austin will finally get to experience the joy of Casa de Luz, a truly peaceful and welcoming space to share a meal and genuinely know one another." - Eduardo Longoria, Casa de Luz self-described “steward” and co-founder.

A partnership between Longoria and Casa regulars Blake Thompson and Robert McKee of State Street Properties, Casa de Luz Este will offer plant-based cuisine with grab-and-go, take-out, and ready-made options. Managed by Adriana Martinez-Eliaz, a veteran of Casa de Luz, the kitchen will be headed by her cousin, Edwin Gomez, a native of Guatemala. Gomez and his family will live on-site, embodying the community spirit of the hub.

The new location stays true to the original Austin roots of Casa de Luz, founded in 1991 by Longoria and the late Maryann Rose, who met at the macrobiotic East West Center in 1984. After a fire destroyed the center, they built a community around food and wellness, and this new expansion continues that inclusive legacy.

State Street Properties, through their partnerships with Flo’s Wine Bar & Bottle Shop, Zed’s Ice Cream, and the mixed-use space at the old Hyde Park Post Office, further demonstrates their commitment to creating unique, community-oriented spaces.

Visit Casa de Luz Este for a peaceful meal and a true taste of the Austin community.
