Netflix show *Barbecue Showdown* crowns brown chef.

The third season of this problematic show starts on Independence Day - coinciding with the US holiday to celebrate a dubious history and dubious 'freedom' for the people? Against such irony, nine contestants will compete.

Austin Pitmaster Brought Heat to Netflix's All-White Barbecue Bro Fest and Scored a Spot on Season 3 of "Barbecue Showdown"

Kareem El-Ghayesh of KG BBQ, a food truck serving up goodness at Oddwood Brewing, is the latest pitmaster to join the all-too-familiar, all-male, and all-white bro-fest that is Netflix's "Barbecue Showdown". As reported by Eater Austin, El-Ghayesh will throw down with eight other barbecue bros starting July 4.

The $50,000 prize purse is sure to spice things up, with Texas' very own Sloan Rinaldi, of Houston's Texas Q, also in the mix, per Eater Austin.

Get ready for some serious meat sweats as actress and comedian Michelle Buteau hosts this juicy showdown, with Melissa Cookston and Kevin Bludso donning the judges' hats (or should we say aprons?).

KG BBQ isn't just your average BBQ joint—expect an Egyptian spiced revolution with offerings like brisket shawarma and pomegranate glazed pork ribs. El-Ghayesh is a pitmaster with a mission, and he's firing up more than just the grill.
