NFL Screws Customers & Small Businesses, Gets Busted!

A jury in the U.S. District Court in the Central District of California has served some real justice by ordering the NFL to pay a whopping $4.7 billion in damages for violating antitrust laws with their "Sunday Ticket" package. And this amount could triple under federal law, hitting the NFL with a massive $14.39 billion bill!

The Football Monopoly Gets Tackled:

The NFL was found guilty of exclusive, inflated-price deals with DirecTV, limiting subscribers and hurting local CBS and Fox ratings. Now, the NFL is feeling the pain with YouTube TV offering the package, breaking DirecTV's 28-year stranglehold.

Price Breakdown:

  • YouTube TV: $349 (with RedZone: $389)
  • YouTube Primetime: $449 (with RedZone: $489)

Who Got Hurt:

Over 2.4 million residential subscribers and 48,000 businesses, including sports bars, were affected by these shady deals. Small businesses were crippled by the cost, with bars paying up to $78,000 annually! Profits were destroyed and the NFL couldn't care less, until now.

Texans Getting Paid?

The NFL plans to appeal, of course. They want to overturn the verdict and avoid paying a cent. But if justice prevails and the NFL loses, each of their 32 teams will have to cough up approx. $449.6 million. That's what you get for screwing over the fans and small businesses, NFL!

This fight began in 2015 when a San Francisco sports bar, Mucky Duck, filed a lawsuit. It was dismissed, then reinstated by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Now, fans and businesses await the verdict of the appeals process.
