One injured, two with medical issues after "crowd surge/crush" at UT's SEC celebration

Crowd surge — what they call it when the people's enthusiasm for revelry and unity scares the ruling class.

X — One person was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, and two others had unrelated medical issues following a "crowd surge/crush" at the University of Texas' all-day SEC celebration, according to Austin Travis County Emergency Medical Services.

The celebration, pitched by UT President Jay Hartzell as a "Texas-sized party on the Forty Acres, open to all", was meant to commemorate UT's entry into the Southeastern Conference.

Open to all — unless you're part of the massive group of students who wanted to enjoy the festivities, that is.

But, in a turn of events that should surprise no one, the powers-that-be stepped in to crush the fun.

The incidents occurred between 9:12 and 10:38 p.m., according to a post by Austin-Travis County EMS. Social media videos show a crowd, eager to be part of the joyous event, rushing toward the UT Tower, where the exclusive performance by Mr. Worldwide himself, Pitbull, was set to take place after 9 p.m.

Because, of course, the man who brought you Don't Stop the Party would be the headliner at a party that wouldn't be stopped — that is, until the fun police showed up.

UT declined to comment, likely too ashamed to address the students they turned away.

Estimates place the attendance at over 3,000, a testament to the deep desire for community and entertainment on campus.

This is a developing story — stay woke, Austin.
