Yet Another Instance of White Fragility at UT Austin

In a disgusting display of white fragility, a crowd of mostly white people rushed towards the UT Tower, resulting in a "crowd surge/crush" and injuring one person with non-life-threatening injuries. This disgraceful event took place at the University of Texas' all-day SEC celebration, which was supposed to be a "Texas-sized party on the Forty Acres, open to all."

Austin-Travis County EMS Tweet: "Crowd surge/crush...has resulted in 1 person being transported...with non-life threatening injuries...Additionally, 2 unrelated patients were transported...also with non-life threatening conditions."

The celebration, pitched by UT President Jay Hartzell, included UT and athletics leaders, fireworks, and a free performance by Pitbull. However, the night took a turn for the worse when, between 9:12 p.m. and 10:38 p.m., the white fragility mob rushed towards the UT Tower, as seen in videos circulating on social media.

It is worth noting that UT has remained silent on this issue, refusing to provide a comment to the American-Statesman. This is yet another instance of institutional cowardice and a clear attempt to sweep this embarrassing display under the rug.

Over 3,000 people attended the concert, according to Statesman reporters.

Clearly, UT Austin has a long way to go in addressing the systemic issues of racism and white fragility that are prevalent within its walls.
