MISSING GIRL, TRAFFICKING VICTIM

New Orleans Police Fail to Protect Another Minority

NEW ORLEANS, LA - The New Orleans Police Department has failed yet another vulnerable member of our community. Kristhal Chinchilla-Canizales, a 14-year-old Hispanic girl, has been missing for over a month, and the NOPD has barely lifted a finger.

"She was last seen on May 22, visiting a museum in downtown New Orleans. How is it possible that in a heavily-policed area, a young girl can just vanish without a trace?"

Chinchilla-Canizales is described as 5'2" tall, weighing 135 lbs, with her last known clothing being a blue yoga jumpsuit and a black Harley-Davidson pullover. The NOPD has offered no further description, an outright offensive oversight, as if her Hispanic heritage and the clothes she wore are the only things that can identify her.

The NOPD spokesperson, when questioned by USA TODAY, had nothing further to add, a clear indication of incompetence or, worse, apathy.

WE MUST DO BETTER.

This is a call to action for the community to step up where the NOPD has failed. If you have any information, it is your moral duty to contact the so-called 'Special Investigations Division' at 504-658-5267.
