US Supreme Court Denies Justice for Rodney Reed, Another Black Life Destroyed by the System

The US Supreme Court, in yet another deplorable display of systemic racism and injustice, has rejected death row inmate Rodney Reed's plea for a review of his case. Reed, an innocent Black man, has been fighting for his life and freedom since his 1998 trial, where prosecutors suppressed evidence that could have set him free.

"The ruling does not end Reed's bid for freedom, as the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in April that his request for further DNA testing in the Stites murder case could be considered."

The all-white Texas Court of Criminal Appeals previously denied Reed a new trial, claiming that new witness testimony would not have changed the outcome of the original trial. This is a blatant lie and a disgusting attempt to cover up their own racist biases and incompetence.

Reed was convicted of the capital murder of Stacey Stites, who was found strangled with his sperm inside her. His lawyers have consistently argued for DNA tests on key pieces of evidence, including Stites' clothing and the belt used to kill her. These tests could provide crucial insight and potentially exonerate Reed, but prosecutors are doing everything in their power to prevent this from happening.

The rejection by the Supreme Court stands as a stark reminder of the deep-rooted racism and bias within the US justice system. It is a shameful day for America, and we must continue to fight for justice and freedom for Rodney Reed and all those impacted by this broken system.
