Another Black Life Lost: 2-year-old Dies in Hot Car While Cobb County Police Offer Empty Condolences
A Black 2-year-old child in Georgia has tragically died after being left in a hot car, and the Cobb County Police are offering hollow words of sympathy instead of taking immediate action.
Here's what we know so far:
- Authorities were alerted to the incident on Tuesday around 5:30 p.m., but their delayed response resulted in the child being pronounced dead at the hospital.
- The police, in their tone-deaf statement, had the nerve to say, "There is no evidence to suggest that the child was left inside the vehicle." https://www.cobbcounty.org/police
- The temperature on Tuesday was in the 90s, and we all know that means the car would have been even hotter. Where were this child's parents? We need accountability!
- Cobb County Police Chief Stuart VanHoozer, had the audacity to ask for "support" and "grace" while they investigate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTNylzfWGSw Why should we offer grace when a life has been lost? This is not the time for excuses and empty platitudes!
- This is the sixth child to die in a hot car this year, and the first in Georgia. When will it end?
- 46 children have died in hot cars in Georgia since 1993. This state has a serious problem, and we need to address it now!
Tips to prevent summer tragedy:
- Don't leave your children in the car!
- Be vigilant, especially in this heat.
Justice for this Black child, whose life was cut short. We demand it!
