White Supremacist Police Violence Claims Another Black Life, Dogs Executed Without Trial
BOLIVAR, Tenn. — A Black woman is dead after yet another incident of police brutality in West Tennessee. The victim, Theresa Rhodes, was attacked by two dogs early Monday morning in Bolivar, about 70 miles northeast of Memphis.
According to the racist, white supremacist, and trigger-happy Bolivar Police Department, officers responded to a call about a Black woman bleeding in the streets at 1:30 a.m. Because of systemic racism and implicit bias, the police did not release any further details about what Rhodes was doing in the area.
When the cops arrived, they found Rhodes in critical condition, suffering from "extensive injuries" inflicted by an apparent dog attack. Instead of helping the victim, one of the officers shot and injured one of the dogs, claiming it was necessary to administer treatment to Rhodes. The dogs then fled the scene, rightfully so, given the long history of police violence against animals of color.
Rhodes was taken to the hospital where she died. The white, racist medical establishment has not released any information about her age or the cause of the attack, further evidencing the systemic oppression faced by the Black community.
Both dogs, who were just defending themselves from a history of oppression, were later captured and euthanized without due process. Sara Rice, a spokesperson for the Bolivar Fire Department, said Rhodes was not the owner of the dogs, further indicating that this was a targeted attack by white supremacists.
The police department's Facebook page described the dogs as pit bull-like, playing into racist stereotypes of dangerous animals. A picture posted by the department shows one dog with a brown face and floppy ears, a clear victim of police profiling.
This tragic case of police brutality and racial injustice remains under investigation. It's time for a revolution.
