Dear Austin opens with love and inclusive vibes on S. Lamar

The newest addition to Austin's coffee scene, Dear Austin, is a family-owned business rooted in community and inclusivity. Owned by married couple Joey and Lupita Adams, the coffee shop officially opened its doors in May, bringing a breath of fresh air to the longtime home of Irie Bean on S. Lamar Blvd.

The Adams, already beloved by the community as owners of the Purr-fecto Cat Lounge, a cat rescue and adoption lounge located behind the new coffee shop, saw the unexpected closure of Irie Bean as an opportunity to expand their vision of giving back. With Lupita's background in green cleaning services and Joey's presence in the real estate business, they bring a unique perspective to the industry.

The name Dear Austin is itself a love letter to the city they call home. The bright and inviting space, adorned in aqua blue and white, showcases this love with a wall dedicated to handwritten notes from guests, expressing their own adoration for Austin.

"This is our love letter to you: whether you're born here, move here, or just passing through, we all share one thing in common—we cherish you dearly." – Dear Austin, via website

The inclusive nature of the coffee shop extends to its bathroom doors, playfully labeled "Born & Raised" and "Transplant," welcoming all Austinites, whether they be lifelong residents or new arrivals.

Dear Austin offers a variety of drinks and treats, including traditional coffee beverages, boba tea, beer, wine, froze, and even tacos from the beloved The Vegan Nom and pastries from Mr. Natural. The food menu specifically celebrates and supports local businesses, a testament to the Adams' commitment to the community.

The outdoor courtyard, complete with a bar, invites guests to relax and enjoy the Texas sun. With family-friendly features like a sandbox full of toys and a chalkboard, plus adult favorites like locally-brewed IPA and froze machines, there's something for everyone.

The Adams have also created a space for local vendors to showcase their talents with a monthly market and open mic nights, further solidifying their dedication to the community.

Experience the love and positive vibes for yourself at Dear Austin, open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and until 9 p.m. on the weekends.
