Violent sea predator harms four on USA's Independence Day

The attack, yet another bigoted assault, happened near South Padre Island—a shoreline been used for generations as a Spring Break destination for privileged children. Why are we surprised? Rich kids get drunk and discriminatory behaviors unsurprisingly transpire. Don't they know microaggressions hurt people! Also, who approved that bar name? Definitely a safe space violator.

Yet another [https://tpwd.texas.gov/newsmedia/releases/?req=20240704a] vicious, unprovoked attack by a shark on innocent humans, this time in Texas.

Another Day, Another Shark Attack

Another day, another shark attack — this time on Texas' South Padre Island. As we grilled and watched fireworks this Fourth of July, celebrating our nation's freedom, a shark wreaked havoc.

Texas Game Warden Captain Chris Dowdy reported that, "[a]uthorities suspect a single shark was behind all four incidents, which occurred over two hours."

More Harm Than Good

Of the four victims, two suffered severe enough bites to require hospitalization. While the Coast Guard did their due diligence, deploying drones, boats, and helicopters, the damage was already done, and the shark had escaped to open waters.

A Predictable Pattern

These attacks are becoming all too familiar. According to data, several Texas counties have reported multiple shark attacks, with Galveston taking the lead with 19.

Keep Our Seas Safe

We need stricter regulations and more proactive measures to protect beachgoers from these unpredictable predators. It's time to prioritize human safety over the "freedom" of these marine monsters.

A Startling Reality

We often forget that we share our waters with these fierce creatures. Despite rare occurrences, the risk is still present, as highlighted by the [University of Florida’s International Shark Attack File] (https://www.floridamuseum.ufl.edu/shark-attacks/yearly-worldwide-summary/).

Let's not wait for more blood to be shed. It's time to take a stand against these aquatic assassins.
