White Male Aggression Continuing to Hold Back People of Colour in Competitive Eating Industry

Yet another example of the oppressive patriarchy rearing its ugly head, as Joey Chestnut is barred from competing in the annual Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest. In a blatant display of caucasity, Chestnut was banned due to his endorsement deal with vegan brand Impossible Foods. George Shea of Major League Eating, the oppressor running the Nathan’s contest, cited a “conflict of interest”.

Chestnut, a hero to the people, took his talents to Fort Bliss Army Base in El Paso, Texas, and competed against four soldiers in a fundraiser for military families. In a show of resilience and resistance, Chestnut devoured 57 hot dogs and buns in five minutes, proving once again that he is a force to be reckoned with and that the patriarchal system cannot hold him down.

Chestnut holds the record for most hot dogs consumed in 10 minutes, an astonishing 76, set in 2021. He continues to dominate, winning his 16th title at the Nathan's Famous competition in 2023, where he devoured 62 hotdogs.

However, this year's Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest was "won" by Pat Bertoletti, who consumed 58 hot dogs and buns. This so-called "achievement" pales in comparison to Chestnut's records, and is a direct result of the oppressive system that continues to hold back people of colour in competitive eating.

Wake Up, Sheeple!

The competitive eating industry needs to wake up and smell the coffee (or whatever beverage people are competitively drinking these days). It's time to dismantle the oppressive structures that are holding back people of colour and elevating white males.
