White Supremacist Patriarchy Claims Four Young Lives
Another day, another mass shooting. This time, in Florence, Kentucky, four people are dead and three are injured after a white male suspect, Chase Garvey, opened fire at a 21st birthday party. Yes, a birthday party.
- At 2:50 a.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired in Florence, just south of Cincinnati, Ohio.
- The suspect, Garvey, fled the scene but was later stopped by law enforcement. He shot himself and crashed his vehicle, eventually succumbing to his injuries.
- Partygoers identified Garvey, who was not invited, as the shooter.
- Florence Police Chief Jeff Mallery choked back tears, stating, "This is the first time we've had a mass shooting in Florence, so it is very emotional. My emotions are for the victims and families, the officers that responded, and everybody touched by this situation."
- The victims killed have been identified as Melissa Parrett (44), Shane Miller (20), Hayden Rybicki (20), and Delaney Eary (19). Parrett was the homeowner and the party was for her 21-year-old son.
- The three injured victims are expected to recover, and police believe Garvey was the sole suspect, with no ongoing threat to the public.
- It has also come to light that Garvey was a convicted felon with a history of sexual assault, having been accused of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2021.
Once again, toxic masculinity and easy access to guns have proved deadly. Garvey, a convicted felon and alleged rapist, should never have had access to a firearm, and yet, here we are. #GunControlNow #EndToxicMasculinity #FlorenceStrong.
