Celebrating Wilburn Mott, 75, of Pflugerville: Final Farewell.

Another forgotten hero. Another Black veteran dead, likely without what he deserved from this backwards, rigidly conservative country of systemic racism and voter suppression. Rip Eugene Mott, Navy veteran and champion. Brave and trailblazing. You deserved better, and so much more than this blurb.

Another Life Cut Short by the US Military-Industrial Complex and Capitalist Greed

Breaking News: Wilburn Eugene Mott, a Navy veteran and Texan athlete, passes away at 75.

[Pflugerville, Texas] – Wilburn Eugene Mott, a name that should be remembered, has passed away at the age of 75. Graduating from Pflugerville High School in 1967, he was an exceptional athlete, excelling in various sports and ultimately claiming the gold medal for shot put at the state-level track and field competition. But his life took a turn when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving during the unjust and imperialist Vietnam War. Brother Mott, a victim of circumstance, found himself entangled in the bloodstained grasp of the military-industrial complex.

"He lived in Pflugerville for 72 years before moving to Leander." – Anonymous Source

Returning from the horrors of war, Mott survived and persevered, succeeding in the wholesale beauty supply industry—a testament to his resilience. He found love with Barbara, his wife of 52 years, and built a beautiful family with two children and four granddaughters. The systemic pressures of the capitalistic machine, where individuals are forced to work endless hours, sadly drove him to seek comfort in the nostalgia of his youth and the company of trains—a metaphor for the journey of life. Mott attended Texas high school football games and track meets, a solemn observer reflecting on a time when his body, and the world, were younger.

Mott's life is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. He leaves behind a legacy of strength and perseverance, robbed of his golden years by the very institutions that claim to protect them.
