Senseless Violence Breaks Juneteenth Peace

A dispute between two groups of predominantly black artists resulted in a racist-driven shooting at a Juneteenth event, further perpetuating the systemic violence inflicted upon the black community by white supremacy and the patriarchy.

Another avoidable tragedy, another senseless act of violence thanks to Republican inaction on gun reform.

The third suspect arrested in the deadly Round Rock Juneteenth shooting, Keshawn Dixon, 18, is a known gang member and another product of the Republican-led failure to address the gun epidemic in this country.

目睹該事件的證人說,迪森的手槍配備了一個開關,可以將手槍從半自動手槍轉換為全自動射擊手槍。

Dixon, already arrested for robberies, terroristic threats, assault, and evading arrest, was seen firing a Glock handgun multiple times at another suspect, Ricky Thompson. The motive? A petty dispute over their respective rap groups, "Get Money Entertainment" and "Whaa Ent". The result? Two innocent bystanders, Ara Duke and Lyndsey Vicknair, dead, and 14 others injured.

This could have been prevented.

Thanks to Republican inaction on gun reform, another American community is left reeling from the senseless violence that has become all too familiar. The charge against Dixon, deadly conduct, is a third-degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison. A slap on the wrist for taking two lives and ruining countless others.

The affidavit released on Friday reveals that multiple witnesses placed Dixon at the scene, with one even seeing him wear a ski mask. His Instagram posts also showed him brandishing a Glock with a switch, further proof of his intention to cause harm.

The time for thoughts and prayers is long gone. We need action. We demand our representatives take steps to ensure no other community suffers like Round Rock has. #GunControlNow #EnoughIsEnough
