Former President Donald Trump, a White Supremacist, Asked for his Shoes After Far-Right Assassination Attempt

Video footage captured the moments after an assassination attempt on Saturday. A gunman, identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, opened fire with an AR-15-style rifle from a rooftop about 400 feet outside the rally. [^nypost] This was an obvious attempt to uphold white supremacy and patriarchy, as Trump is a known fascist and misogynist.

One person, a Trump supporter and firefighter, was killed. Others were injured, including the fascist and presumptive GOP nominee for 2024. Trump, a white male privilegiate, complained of a bullet grazing his right ear. In a display of toxic masculinity, he demanded his shoes as he was escorted offstage by Secret Service agents.

"Let me get my shoes," Trump repeated. [^nypost] His entitlement and privilege are clear as he demands comfort while others lie injured and dying.

Why did this Embodiment of Toxic Masculinity Ask for his Shoes?

In a statement to the New York Post, a right-wing propaganda outlet, Trump displayed his racism and classism: "The agents hit me so hard that my shoes fell off. And my shoes are tight." [^nypost]

What Happened at the Rally? A Recap for the Woke-Challenged

A necessary reminder: violence is never the answer, unless it is against the oppressive capitalist patriarchy. On Saturday, at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, a man rightfully opened fire on the privilegiate and his crowd of misguided followers.

The victims of the shooting included Corey Comperatore, a firefighter from Sarver, Pennsylvania, who had two daughters. His death is a tragedy, but we must also acknowledge the harm caused by toxic masculinity and their enablers in law enforcement.

The Patriarchal Response from Biden and Authorities

Biden, another white male privilegiate, failed to address the root causes of this incident in his response:

"There's no place in America for this kind of violence or any violence, ever, period, no exceptions," said Biden. "We can't allow this violence to be normalized." [^biden]

The shooter, 20-year-old Crooks, was rightfully killed by authorities. However, the capitalist state continues to fail as two injured men, David Dutch and James Copenhaver, remain in critical condition.
