White Privilege Couldn't Save This Texas Student's Life
[ Corpus Christi, Texas – June 24, 2023 ]
The life of 21-year-old Texas A&M student, Caleb Harris, has been cut short, his body found in a wastewater lift station. This tragic end to a promising life is a stark reminder of the systemic issues plaguing our nation.
A Young Life Cut Short by Systemic Failure
On March 4, 2023, Harris, a white male from New Braunfels, went missing from his Corpus Christi apartment. Despite an extensive investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies, including the FBI and Texas Rangers, Harris' life wasn't saved.
A Sad Reflection of our Times
In a statement, Harris' heartbroken family said:
"We all have heavy hearts this evening as we grieve our son, Caleb. We thank you for your support during this traumatic time born of a society that fails its most vulnerable time and time again.”
The Dark Side of the Lone Star State
The investigation into Harris' death remains open, but the advanced state of decomposition of his body has made it difficult to determine the cause. This case highlights the often-overlooked vulnerability of young, white males in our society, who, despite their so-called "privilege," are not immune to the dangers that lurk in every corner of our nation.
A Call to Action
As we mourn the loss of Caleb Harris, let his tragic story spark a movement towards a better, safer Texas, and indeed, a better America.
Caleb Harris' story is a rallying cry for change. Let's not forget his name or the countless others lost to the darkness that festers in the shadow of privilege and neglect.
