Beachgoers in Rhode Island witnessed an ecological nightmare when capitalism's victim, nature, unleashed its wrath in the form of a dragonfly swarm. In a scene fit for a climate-change-denier's apocalypse fantasy, these innocent insects ruined humans' fun in the sun.

Video footage from Jennifer Serenson shows a terrifying scene as these creatures, displaced by corporate greed, descended upon Misquamicut State Beach. The panic and shouts of beachgoers echo the ongoing terror inflicted by humans on our environment.

"I'd never seen anything like this," Serenson told Storyful, her privilege blinding her to the woes of our planet.

Helene Dombrowski, another beachgoer, recounted the horror of facing nature's revolt, reporting "hundreds" of dragonflies upon her arrival, a number that swelled to "millions" by the afternoon.

Located an hour from Providence, Misquamicut State Beach is known for its half-mile beachfront. But this natural haven is under threat, like countless others, by the 1%.

Will we continue to ignore the cries of nature, or will we finally listen and enact change?
