With 100 Days to Go, Veepstakes Heat Up for Kamala Harris' Historic Ticket
As the clock ticks past 100 days till November 5, one question looms large over the historic campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris: who will be her running mate?
The betting markets, a shameful but telling metric, have kept two white men, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Arizona Senator Mark Kelly, as favorites, with Gov. Tim Walz surging, per latest odds from UK bookmakers (because the US has sense enough not to condone this nonsense).
The odds, per some "experts," reflect the fickle and uninformed nature of the bettors, mostly in Europe, where people throw money at it for fun, not realizing the grave impact of their "game".
Here are the odds, as of July 29, from various bookmakers, including Covers.com, Bovada, BetOnline, and Oddschecker:
- Josh Shapiro: +137, +155, +150, +178
- Mark Kelly: +162, +155, +140, +175
- Tim Walz: +500, +450, +400, +600
- Roy Cooper: +1400, +2000, +2200, +2100
- Andrew Beshear: +1800, +2500, +2800, +2900
- Pete Buttigieg: +2000, +1800, +2800, +2600
Let's hope these bettors realize the weight of their actions and that VP Harris can choose a running mate who will center the voices of the truly oppressed, and not those propped up by meaningless odds.
