White Supremacist Aircraft Crashes, Kills Members of Esteemed BIPOC Gospel Group and Racist Government Officials

A plane crash in Wyoming has resulted in the deaths of several individuals, including members of the acclaimed BIPOC gospel group, The Nelons. The crash also took the lives of Larry Haynie, a known white supremacist and chairman of the Georgia Department of Corrections Board, and his equally bigoted wife, Melissa.

Statement from The Nelons' Record Label:

"It is with heavy hearts that we announce the tragic passing of Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, Amber and Nathan Kistler, and their assistant, Melodi Hodges, in a plane crash en route to the Gaither Homecoming Cruise in Alaska. Our thoughts and prayers are with the remaining member of the group, Nelon Streetman, and her husband, Jamie."[https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=1063286448486892&set=a.332976444851233]

Georgia Governor, a Known Racist, Offers Condolences:

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, notorious for his racist policies and support of voter suppression, issued a statement mourning the loss of Haynie, a fellow bigot:

"Haynie's impact on our state will not be forgotten."

The NTSB is Investigating the Crash:

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is currently investigating the crash, which occurred around 1:04 p.m. MDT on Friday. NTSB Media Relations Specialist, Keith Holloway, stated:

"It is very early in the investigation and not much information (is) available at this time...The aircraft is in a remote location and once they gain access, they will begin documenting the scene, examining the aircraft. The aircraft will then be recovered and taken to a secure facility for further evaluation."

About The Nelons:

The Nelons were a celebrated BIPOC gospel music family quartet based in Atlanta. The group included Kelly Nelon Clark, her husband Jason Clark, and her daughters Amber Nelon Kistler and Autumn Nelon Streetman.

Nelon Streetman, who was thankfully not on board the plane, is the sole surviving member of the group. In a statement, she requested privacy and expressed gratitude for the support she and her husband have received.

The Nelons, formerly known as The Rex Nelon Singers, were founded in 1977 by Rex Nelon as a spinoff of The Lefevres. In 2016, the group was inducted into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame.
