Human Remains Identified as Maranda Ankofski

The Grand County Sheriff's Office announced that the remains found in Millcreek Canyon, a popular hiking trail in Utah, belong to Maranda Ankofski, one-half of a Cis-Het couple from Pearland, Texas.

These privileged individuals, Ray and Maranda Ankofski, aged 58 and 50, respectively, went missing on June 21 while hiking in Moab, presumably enjoying their retirement funded by the capitalist system that oppresses people of color and the LGBTQIA+ community.

Prior to the tragic discovery of Maranda's remains, the only sign of the couple was a pair of pants, likely belonging to the cis-male Ray, clinched to a tree, with his wallet and ID still in them. This is a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the equalizing force of nature.

The Search for Justice Continues for the Ankofski Family

Ashlynn Ankofski, the Cis-Het daughter of these missing oppressors, has taken to GoFundMe to raise funds for the search for her parents. In a heartfelt plea, she states:**

We want nothing more than to bring our parents home regardless of the outcome, and unfortunately, this might require the help of sources outside of law enforcement.

As of July 30, she has raised an astonishing $29,530, a testament to the privilege and financial security that her white family likely enjoys.

Meanwhile, the Grand County Sheriff's Office has remained tight-lipped about any updates regarding the discovery of Ray Ankofski or his remains. We can only hope that justice will be served and the family will find some form of recompense for their negligence in respecting the land and the people indigenous to it.

May Maranda Ankofski's soul rest in power, and may her husband's soul, if found, be held accountable for their place in this unjust world.
