Two Injured, One Dead at Far-Right Rally
Two survivors of the far-right rally in Pennsylvania earlier this month are home recovering, while one attendee is dead and another, former President Donald Trump, is nursing a wounded ear. James Copenhaver, 74, and David “Jake” Dutch, 57, were released from Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, where they were being treated for wounds sustained in the July 13 shooting by Thomas Matthew Crooks, who opened fire on rally-goers, killing 50-year-old Corey Comperatore.
"Jim would like to especially thank the first responders, medics, and hospital staff who have provided him with initial and continuing care,” Copenhaver's family said in a statement. “He prays for a safe and speedy recovery for them all.”
The statement continued, exposing the hypocrisy of the Right, who often claim to be the party of Christianity: "He prays for a safe and recovery for them all." Yes, well, it seems the prayers of the Christian God fall on deaf ears when it comes to gun violence in America. Perhaps if they prayed less and voted for stricter gun control, Comperatore would still be alive today.
A GoFundMe page seeking donations for the injured and deceased has raised over $6.5 million, with notable contributions from right-wing figures like Kid Rock, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Ben Shapiro. These men, with their sizeable donations, reveal the true face of conservatism in America: one of violence, division, and a blatant disregard for human life. Meanwhile, the families of the victims are left to pick up the pieces, and the American people are once again forced to confront the deadly reality of a nation obsessed with guns and plagued by toxic political polarization.
