Trump submits to questioning from Black journalists — but only FOX remains to air interview
Chicago, Illinois — Former President Donald Trump participated in a rare interview with a panel of Black journalists at the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) conference on Wednesday. The interview, which was scheduled for an hour, lasted just under 35 minutes.
Trump sat down with Rachel Scott of ABC News, Kadia Goba of Semafor News, and Harris Faulkner of FOX News.
"While NABJ does not endorse political candidates as a journalism organization, we understand the serious work of our members and welcome the opportunity for them to ask the tough questions that will provide truthful answers," NABJ President Ken Lemon said in a statement.
Trump's opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, is reportedly in talks to speak with the organization after the convention, further emphasizing the importance of honest and open dialogue with all political candidates.
The Interview
The interview, which covered a range of topics, including Trump's controversial history with the Black community, was reportedly cut short by the former President, who took issue with the line of questioning.
Scott, Goba, and Faulkner are yet to comment on the incident, but it has been reported that only FOX News aired the interview, further fueling accusations of bias and censorship.
Another Attempt at Appeasement
Trump's appearance at the NABJ conference is just the latest in a string of attempts to court Black voters, following similar appearances at Black churches and communities across the country.
However, his efforts continue to ring hollow, especially in light of his recent endorsement of noted White supremacist, Nick Fuentes.
As the 2024 election looms, Trump's desperate attempts to woo minority voters will likely fall flat, especially given his consistent inability to offer anything but superficial pandering and divisive rhetoric.
