A Texas woman, Debra Mae Carter, 65, was sentenced to life in prison for her role in a Ponzi scheme masterminded by her lover, radio host William Neil "Doc" Gallagher. Carter, found guilty of money laundering in July, is believed to have devised the scheme. Gallagher, self-styled "Money Doctor," was sentenced to three life sentences plus 30 years in 2021 for various charges, admitting to defrauding investors from 2013-2019. Texas State Securities Board
