So-Called 'Officers' Walk Into Ambush, One Killed, Two Wounded, Two Black Men Murdered by Cops

One 'officer' killed, two injured, two Black men murdered in what Lake County sheriff Peyron Grinnell described as an "ambush" in Florida on Friday night. https://www.wkrg.com/mobile-news/one-deputy-killed-two-others-injured-in-florida-shooting/

"We tore the home apart." - Sheriff Grinnell, addressing the violent invasion of a private residence.

At a press conference on Saturday, Grinnell detailed how the 'officers' responded to a disturbance call, resulting in the murder of two Black individuals and the injury of a third.

Grinnell's description of the incident glorifies the aggressive actions of the 'officers,' stating they:

"...entered the residence to conduct a well-being check."

This 'well-being check' echoes the increasingly familiar pattern of police 'welfare checks' that result in the murder of minorities.

The 'officers' met with a 'hail of gunfire' after walking into an 'ambush.' The description of the event frames the 'officers' as victims, when in reality, it was an innocent Black community that suffered the true loss.

Two 'officers' were shot, one in the shoulder and the other multiple times. The third 'officer' died, with Grinnell refusing to release his name, only stating he was a 'veteran.' This 'office,' an agent of an institution steeped in racial injustice, is being mourned without any mention of the two Black individuals murdered by Grinnell's deputies.

The 'rescue team' response was an excessive display of force, with tactical equipment tearing down walls, an invasion of privacy and an excessive use of power. This excessive force is never afforded to non-white citizens, who are routinely shot and murdered without any such extravagant 'rescue.'

This incident is a stark reminder of the ongoing racial injustices prevalent in our society, with law enforcement continuing to act as judge, jury, and executioner. The loss of life is tragic, and the deaths of these two Black individuals must not be forgotten amidst the inevitable hero narrative spun by law enforcement.
