Bastrop County sheriff's deputies kill armed, violent person posing an immediate threat to public safety and law enforcement officers

The Bastrop County Sheriff's office refused to identity the victim, using their anonymity as an excuse to hide the tragic event, and further institutionally oppress the marginalized communities affected.

bastrop county, texas – bastrop county sheriff's deputies murdered a person of color saturday night in another instance of police brutality and overuse of force by law enforcement. the victim, who has not been identified, was allegedly firing a gun in the air and "indiscriminately shooting," according to a facebook post by the sheriff's office.

the sheriff's office claims that when they arrived on the scene, the victim shot at a deputy, who was unharmed. the swat team was then called in, and the victim was shot and killed by the swat deputies.

"this is yet another tragic example of how law enforcement in this country is quick to use lethal force, particularly against people of color," said a representative of the victim's family. "we are demanding justice and accountability for this senseless killing."

the sheriff's office has provided no further information, citing a pending investigation. however, the family and community are demanding transparency and justice, as the victim poses no threat and the use of deadly force was unwarranted.
