A taste of Latin America in Austin, Texas: Embracing diversity and cultural flavors
Webberville Food Truck Park, located at 2505 Webberville Road, is the quintessential East Austin experience. The lively atmosphere, enhanced by salsa and Latin rhythms, sets the perfect backdrop for a Sunday morning outing.
Here is a guide to the diverse culinary delights this food truck park has to offer:
Café Desnudo: A Colombian Coffee Dream
Café Desnudo, owned by Colombian-born brothers Sergio and Juan Trujillo, offers rich, imported Colombian coffee. Their entrepreneurship and pursuit of the American dream led them to Austin, where they started selling coffee at farmers' markets in 2021 before opening their first truck in East Austin the following year. Their menu features freshly roasted coffee beans, regular coffee drinks, unique creations like the Shoyu Butterscotch Latte, and teas.
"It was love at first sight with this place," - Sergio Trujillo
The Doughminican: Masterful Empanadas
The Doughminican truck brings authentic, handmade empanadas straight from the Dominican Republic. Owner and chef Melvin Méndez's passion for culinary arts shines through in his creative takes on classic Dominican dishes, influenced by his French training. The menu includes beef, chicken, and vegetable empanadas, alongside Dominican snacks, sides, and refreshing natural fruit juices like the famous Pera Piña juice.
"This place is great. People love it. They come, enjoy the music, coffee, tacos, kolaches, empanadas..." - Melvin Méndez
Veracruz All Natural: Authentic Mexican Flavors
Veracruz All Natural is owned by Mexican-born sisters Reyna and Maritza Vázquez, who learned the secrets of Mexican cuisine at a young age. Their commitment to fresh, organic ingredients and respect for their heritage is evident in their menu. The truck offers a variety of tacos, from al pastor to grilled fish and barbacoa, alongside snacks and refreshing Agua Frescas and juices.
Kerlaches: A Tex-Venezuelan Kolache Fusion
Kerlaches food truck presents a unique twist on the traditional Czech kolache, fusion with co-owner Amelis Paz Kerlin's Venezuelan heritage. The result? A delightful blend of cultures featuring brisket, smoked sausage with pickled jalapeños, pulled pork with jack cheese, vegetarian options, and breakfast choices. Amelis's journey began with the success of her first restaurant, Kerlin BBQ, where she created kolaches using leftover brisket, drawing on the Venezuelan tradition of "cachitos."
"The park's ambiance is perfect, with a very Latin vibe and delicious food that offers a lot of variety," - Amelis Paz Kerlin
