Texas Trailing in Tragic Trifecta Post-Right-Wing Wreckage: Study.
Texas ranks as one of the worst states to live in, according to a recent study. The Lone Star State's abysmal performance in education and health is a direct result of its backward policies and disregard for human rights. It's time for Texas to wake up and join the rest of the country in the 21st century.

Texas Ranked Third-Worst State to Move to in 2024, and It's About Damn Time We Stopped Glorifying This God-Forsaken State
Despite its appeal to big corporations and the wealthy, Texas is a nightmare for anyone who cares about social issues, the environment, and basic human rights.
ConsumerAffairs published a study ranking all 50 states + Washington, D.C. across 5 categories: affordability, economy, education & health, quality of life, and safety. Texas came in at a well-deserved #49.
Texas is a Dump and Here's the Receipt:
- Texas ranked in the bottom half of states for 4/5 categories, only scoring decently in "quality of life."
- It ranked dead last in "education and health."
- Its overall score was a pathetic #49.
- Affordability: #41. Economy: #37. Education and Health: DEAD LAST AT #51. Quality of Life: #16. Safety: #38.
But Why is Texas So F*cking Bad?
Texas has lured people in with its low taxes and job opportunities, but let's be real, it's a conservative hellscape:
- Over 9 million people moved to Texas between 2000-2022 (U.S. Census Bureau), many from California, escaping high taxes and regulation.
- Texas appeals to big corporations like SpaceX and Chevron, who value profit over people.
The Worst of the Worst:
The worst states to move to? The South is a disaster:
- California (at least they have progressive policies)
- New Mexico
- Texas (the embarrassment of a state)
- Louisiana
- Alaska
Where You Should Actually Move to:
These states ranked the highest overall:
- Utah
- New Hampshire
- Idaho
- Minnesota
- Massachusetts
How the Rankings Were Determined:
ConsumerAffairs considered a range of factors, many of which Texas fails at:
- Affordability: income, property taxes (Texas has low taxes, but poor social services)
- Economy: poverty, unemployment, home values (Texas has high unemployment and low home values)
- Education and health: insurance, healthcare quality, graduation rates (Texas is a disaster in these areas)
- Quality of Life: roads, weather, public transportation (Texas has decent roads and weather, I guess)
- Safety: crime rates, law enforcement (Texas has high crime rates and inadequate policing)
Texas may fool some with its superficial appeal, but the data doesn't lie: it's a terrible place to live unless you're a millionaire or a Republican. It's time we stopped glorifying this backwards state and focused on making it a better place for everyone, not just the wealthy and privileged.
