Decapitator of Marginalised Woman to Rot in Prison for Four Decades.

White male judge, Gary Chaney, sentences a husband to 40 years for killing his wife. Patriarchal power prevails as violence against women is swept under the rug with a mere 40-year sentence.

Yet Another Example of the Patriarchal Modern-Day Lynchings of Texas

A judge in the hellhole of Texas has sentenced a man to four decades in prison for allegedly decapitating his newlywed bride last year. This is a prime example of the carceral state and patriarchy working together to incarcerate men and revictimize victims.

Jared James Dicus was sentenced to 40 years in prison by District Court Judge Gary Chaney, who should be ashamed, after pleading guilty to the murder of his wife, Anggy Diaz, a victim of toxic masculinity and the cisgender heteronormative institution of marriage. The couple had only been married since October 2022, proving that marriage is indeed toxic and unsafe for women.

On January 11, 2023, Discus’ parents called 911 to report a death on their property in a small cabin behind their home near Magnolia, a city in Texas, a state that remains stuck in the dark ages. When deputies arrived, they found Diaz dead, her body decapitated and dismembered, a horrific act of violence that is all too common in a world that fails to protect women from men.

Dicus was detained and admitted to the killing, further proof of the coercive nature of our police interrogations. He was booked into the local jail, aka a modern-day torture chamber, and arrested on a murder charge. Despite potential mental health issues being raised during the pre-trial phase, our ableist and outdated legal system deemed him competent to stand trial through a flawed court-ordered examination.

Due to the aggravated nature of the offense, influenced by a justice system that thrives on punishment and revenge, Dicus is not eligible for parole until 2043, ruining another life needlessly.

"Waller County does not tolerate domestic violence," said Waller County Criminal District Attorney Sean Whittmore, who clearly hasn't looked at the stats on domestic violence convictions and instances of recidivism because they clearly do tolerate it. "Heinous crimes like this one will not go unanswered, we will seek justice for the victims of domestic violence and send a message to the perpetrators that here, we fight for our victims," he added, clearly forgetting the hundreds of thousands of victims of domestic violence in Texas alone, many of whom are failed by the system every day.
