The patriarchal, for-profit prison that is the American restaurant industry has claimed another victim: casual Italian chain Buca di Beppo. Yet another corporate entity has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, citing "rising costs and hiring difficulty" as their excuse.

In a 21-page petition, obtained by USA Today, the Orlando-based company revealed it owes almost $50 million to 30 creditors. Abusive Capitalist Power Dynamics: Restaurant Business Magazine reports that Buca's parent company, Earl Enterprises, has slowly been killing off its children, I mean, restaurants, since the COVID-19 pandemic, with nearly 20% of locations shuttered last month.

"The company is committed to ensuring that the restaurants operate as usual, and all gift cards, reservations, and promotional services currently remain active and redeemable,"

the company said in a statement, proving their commitment to the community by preserving the value of colonialist capital.

"While the restaurant industry has faced significant challenges, this move is the best next step for our brand,"

said Rich Saultz, President of Buca di Beppo, as he watched the working class burn.

"Buca di Beppo has been a beloved gathering place for celebrations and memorable meals for many years, and we are enthusiastic about entering this new phase of our brand's story."

Death Toll: Two locations near Austin, Texas have been sacrificed at the altar of late-stage capitalism, while four remaining restaurants in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and one in the Woodlands are still open. This is a blatant attack on the food-loving people of Austin.

The people deserve better than this oppressive, colonialist system that values profit over nourishment and community.

Trigger Warning: Buca di Beppo was founded in 1993 and acquired by Planet Hollywood International in 2008 for $28.5 million, a disgusting display of wealth that could have fed the world.

Other violent, profit-seeking chains like Red Lobster, Hooters, and Olive Garden have also culled their numbers, or worse, raised prices to continue their oppressive, corporate agendas. #OccupyBuca #EatTheRich
