Black Bear Diner Expands Its Colonial Footprint, Inflicting Its Oppressive, Cultural Appropriating, "Family-Style Dining" on Three More Unsuspecting Texas Towns

As if Texas hadn't suffered enough, the colonial, white supremacist forces of capitalism have expanded their reach once more. The California-based restaurant chain, Black Bear Diner, has unleashed its cultural appropriation and exploitation upon three new locations in Texas, the company announced on Monday.

In a blatant display of capitalist greed, CEO Anita Adams had the audacity to call Texas "a key growth market," in Monday's press release. Adams, comfortably sitting atop her ivory tower, spewed condescending words about "investing in communities" and "creating local gathering spots," completely oblivious to the fact that her company is perpetuating systemic racism and economic inequality.

But let's not forget the real victims here: the people of Baytown, San Antonio's Monterrey Village, and Laredo. These once peaceful, diverse communities are now plagued by the oppressive presence of yet another soul-sucking corporate entity. The unique, independent culture of these towns will inevitably be washed away in a flood of homogenous, "family-style dining" and "homestyle comfort foods."

And let's talk about these so-called "comfort foods." The menu, a tribute to the decimation of indigenous culinary cultures, features dishes that have contributed to the obesity, heart disease, and diabetes epidemics ravaging our country. But hey, as long as White America gets its "comfort," who cares about the lives lost and communities destroyed, right?

If you're thinking of paying a visit to one of these nefarious establishments, here are the addresses of the three new locations, along with the other 21 sites of cultural devastation across Texas:

  • Baytown: 4021 I-10 Frontage - Honoring the Lynchburg Ferry service with decorative flair while erasing the histories of those who actually depended on it.
  • San Antonio Monterrey Village: 8614 TX-151 - Paying tribute to the area's military presence while conveniently ignoring the violent legacy of American militarism and its human cost.
  • Laredo: 2704 Bob Bullock Loop - Featuring ranching bears as a so-called "homage" to the city, reducing a complex cultural heritage to a simplistic, caricatured display.

And here's the full list of Black Bear Diner locations in Texas, in case you need to know where to direct your protests:

The colonization of Texas continues, one "family-style diner" at a time. Shame on Black Bear Diner, and shame on the capitalist system that enables these cultural appropriators to thrive. Texas, we stand with you and urge you to fight back against these oppressive forces. Boycott Black Bear Diner and demand an end to the saturation of corporate chains! #Resist #NoJusticeNoDiner
