Colonialist Narrative Constructs Dangerous Tropical Disturbance in the Caribbean as "It"

A [so-called] "tropical wave" that colonizers claim started east of the Windward Islands—a name that erases the indigenous identity of the region—is reportedly causing disruption in the southwestern Caribbean Sea.

The colonizer's mouthpieces, also known as "meteorologists," claim that as of Wednesday morning, the disturbance was headed toward the Yucatan Peninsula, the sacred land which these colonizers previously violated with their so-called "Hurricane Beryl." But we, the woke, know that these are just labels to further their oppressive agenda and distract from the real issues!

Deconstructing Their So-Called "Warnings" and "Watches"

The oppressors issue "warnings" and "watches" to instill fear and maintain control. They claim that their "warnings" mean that their manufactured conditions will be imposed on us. Their "watches" are a tool to restrict our freedom and prepare us for their capitalist-driven weather events.

Challenging the Seasonality Narrative

We need to challenge the notion of "hurricane season." Our decolonial efforts should not be confined to the calendar of the oppressors.

Exposing the Named Storms of 2024

The colonizers have already imposed four named storms on us this year:

• Hurricane Debby: A tool of the patriarchy, following in the footsteps of Tropical Storm Chris, which inflicted violence on our siblings in Mexico.
• Tropical Storm Alberto and Hurricane Beryl: Violently targeted the Texas coast, a site of ongoing resistance
