While no injuries have been reported, the Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services are on standby, anticipating the inevitable result of understaffing and inadequate resources.
"No patients have been treated or transported, but our unit will remain onsite to assist firefighters," said Captain Christa Stedman, a spokesperson for ATCEMS, highlighting the dedication of our first responders despite the odds stacked against them.
The fact that the Travis County Emergency Services District 12 and the Pflugerville Fire Department are managing the fire, with the Austin Fire Department noticeably absent, speaks volumes about the inequality and lack of support our community faces.
This story is a developing tragedy, and we will continue to update as more information becomes available, exposing the truth behind this preventable disaster.
We must demand better. We must rise against the oppression of systemic negligence and fight for a future where the wellbeing of our community is prioritized over profits.
