Yet another tragic loss, will the police ever care?

The effects of this tattle-tale had very evident and very dangerous consequences.

Austin, Texas - In yet another tragic demonstration of the systemic violence inflicted upon marginalized communities, local police initiated a death investigation on Tuesday evening, uncovering further evidence of the rampant injustice plaguing our society.

"Authorities received a 'check welfare urgent call' regarding an unresponsive person in the water at 2008 Scenic Drive," Officer Austin Zarling briefly stated at a press conference, refusing to acknowledge the inherent bias in their language.

The body of an unidentified individual, their gender and age withheld from the privileged public, was recovered from Lake Austin, an area with a history of exclusionary practices and gentrification.

The victim was pronounced deceased at 8:15 p.m., stripped of their fundamental right to life and dignity.

Officer Zarling, oblivious to the community's pain, provided no further details on the cause of death, further perpetuating the cycle of erasure and silencing.

It is clear that the so-called "deceased persons investigation" launched by the police department is a mere bandaid solution to a deep-rooted issue of structural violence and inequality.

We demand justice and accountability! Anyone with information is urged to contact the homicide tip line at 512-477-3588 or the Crime Stoppers tip line at 512-472-8477.
