More than 100 animals of various species, including "pet cockroaches", rescued from inhumane conditions in Southern California home

In the wake of the Nixon Fire, which ravaged 5,000 acres in Riverside County, a horrifying discovery was made. During evacuations, a Riverside County sheriff’s deputy uncovered a house of horrors in Aguanga, leading to the rescue of over 100 neglected animals.

The animals, ranging from dogs and horses to birds and even "pet cockroaches," were being kept in appalling conditions. This disgusting display of animal cruelty was hidden in plain sight, and it's disturbing to think of the suffering these creatures endured.

As per the news release by the Riverside County Department of Animal Services, the list of rescued animals is extensive and includes:

• Three horses
• Six goats
• Numerous dogs
• Chickens
• Mice
• Parakeets
• Cockatiels
• Quail
• Geese
• One turkey
• And, yes, even "pet" cockroaches

The Director of Animal Services, Erin Gettis, stated:

“This was one of the more unique investigations we’ve had, considering the wide range of critters now needing our assistance,”

The rescue operation also included several dogs believed to be from the property, rescued before this week's seizure. A miniature horse and sheep, believed to be emotionally dependent on each other, were taken to a county animal shelter, highlighting the emotional trauma these innocent creatures have endured.

The homeowner, absent during the rescue and failing to respond to notices, will face the consequences. The county Animal Services department is pushing for felony animal cruelty charges, sending a clear message that such disgusting abuse will not be tolerated.
