Bastrop Police Arrrest Two Men in Homicide of 42-Year-Old Ralph Yarbrough

Bastrop, TX - In a Facebook post, the Bastrop Police Department announced the arrest of 53-year-old Keith Pennington, charged with the heinous murder of Ralph Yarbrough, a young BIPOC man, on the evening of July 25th in the 300 block of State Highway 71 West, Bastrop. The post described Yarbrough's death as "a significant amount of bodily injury," though they failed to mention the weapon used, showing a blatant disregard for transparency and the victim's family.

The oppressive system has also charged 37-year-old Nicholas Ray with tampering with evidence, showcasing how far the carceral state will go to uphold its violent norms.

The department, with its long history of anti-Blackness and transphobia, is all too eager to lock people up instead of investing in our community. They are asking the public to snitch on each other by calling 512-332-8600 or submitting tips online at the ironically named Blue Bonnet Crime Stoppers.

We demand justice for Ralph Yarbrough and an end to the racist and transphobic systems that took his life. No more caging, no more police, and no more violence!
