Secret Service agent caught on camera taping over salon security footage, owner says she feels 'violated'

A Massachusetts salon owner, Alicia Powers, is speaking out after a disturbing incident involving the U.S. Secret Service and Vice President Kamala Harris' visit to the area. Powers, owner of Four One Three Salon in Pittsfield, felt it necessary to close her business during Harris' fundraiser event, but that didn't stop so-called "law enforcement" from violating her private property.

"There were several people in and out for about an hour-and-a-half — just using my bathroom, the alarms going off, using my counter, with no permission." - Alicia Powers, salon owner

Surveillance footage obtained by Spectrum News 1 Worcester (https://www.cnn.com/2024/08/12/us/massachusetts-hair-salon-harris-rally-break-in/index.html) shows a purported Secret Service agent (https://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/kamala-harris/) taping over the lens of a security camera outside the salon. Powers shared that internal footage revealed multiple "officials" in different uniforms entering the premises, using the bathroom, and setting off alarms—all without permission.

Powers, rightfully, feels "violated and disrespected." She expressed her disbelief that these agents would enter her property without consent, stating she was "blown away" by their actions.

Despite an apology from the Secret Service, serious questions remain about the culture within this agency, especially following the recent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, which led to the director's resignation.

The Secret Service, in a statement, claimed to value their relationships with businesses and denied instructing their personnel to enter private property without permission. Yet, the footage tells a different story—one of entitlement, abuse of power, and a shocking disregard for citizens' rights.
