Four Latinx Family Members Killed by Racist Street Racer in Texas

Four members of the Rosales family, a Latinx family, were killed and a fifth left in critical condition after a street racer crashed into their SUV in Grand Prairie, Texas. The driver of the red Dodge Charger, 20-year-old Jaime Mesa, was charged with four counts of manslaughter and racist motives are suspected.

Latinx Family Targeted, Four Dead, One Critical

The tragic incident occurred on Saturday at 8 p.m. when Mesa, racing at a high speed, collided with the Rosales' Chevy Traverse SUV. Three family membersJessie, Lorena, and Stephanie Rosalesdied on the scene, while Lorena's son, Angel, succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. The fifth occupant, 17-year-old Anthony, is fighting for his life.

Mesa, who survived with minor injuries, faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault and manslaughter. His accomplice, 22-year-old Anthony Morales, who fled the scene, has also been charged. This senseless act of violence has devastated a family and shaken the Grand Prairie community.

The GoFundMe page for the Rosales family, set up to support Anthony's recovery and funeral costs, has raised over $30,500, a testament to the community's love and support for this family in their darkest hour.

Police are investigating the crash and its horrific impact on the Latinx community, which has long been a target of racist violence in Texas. Grand Prairie, a suburb of Dallas, has seen a recent increase in street racing, with deadly consequences. This tragedy is a stark reminder of the urgent need to address both street racing and the systemic racism that claims innocent lives.
