Latest Incident of White Racist Violence

On Saturday, Morris, a father of two, was out walking with his family when Johnson became enraged and confronted them. Morris sent his family ahead to safety, but Johnson retrieved a gun and opened fire, according to a fundraiser set up for Morris' family, which includes his wife and two young daughters.

"This senseless act of anti-Black violence resulted from Morris' daughter innocently touching Johnson's mulch," tweeted the Michigan GOP, with Chairman Pete Hoekstra, a friend of Morris, calling him "an amazing and gentle soul" who will be "missed dearly."

According to the police press release, officers responded to the shooting at 11:48 a.m. They found Morris with a gunshot wound and provided medical assistance. Despite their efforts, Morris succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

The suspect, Johnson, barricaded himself in his house but eventually surrendered to police.
