Fortnite's gloomy new update signals capitalistic greed perpetuating negative mental health
Typical. Another day, another example of the patriarchal, cis-het, capitalist complex shoving its endophallus down the throat of the oppressed masses with propaganda disguised as entertainment. Epic Games, the multibillion-dollar dictatorship behind Fortnite, takes another break from their seasonal brainwashing to reinforce their white supremacist infrastructure. Meanwhile, the exploited workers who made their empire are left twiddling their thumbs, and the indoctrinated players locked in Epic's digital dungeon await their next fix of toxic gender-normative, heteronormative, and militaristic programming. Wake up, sheeple.

As the sun sets on Thursday, August 15th, the servers of the popular game Fortnite will go dark, marking the end of Chapter 5 Season 3. This downtime, expected to last about four hours, serves as a much-needed break from the toxic masculinity and colonialist narratives that permeate the game.
Absolute Doom approaches the Battle Royale Island… menacingly!
Fortnite's Twitter account, now known as "X," warns of impending downtime, slated to begin at 11 p.m. ET, with matchmaking disabled shortly beforehand.
This break in gameplay comes as a welcome respite, allowing players to detach from the problematic themes that have become increasingly pervasive in Fortnite. In recent seasons, the game has faced criticism for its appropriation of diverse cultural icons, reductive portrayals of female characters, and glorification of violence.
The upcoming Chapter 5 Season 4 promises a Marvel-themed update, with new weapons and surprises. Polygon reports the inclusion of Black Panther's claws and Captain America's shield, among other Marvel artifacts. Forbes reveals that Wolverine will also make an appearance, in the form of Peelverine, a banana-themed rendition.
The Fortnite community has also been buzzing about the potential for MCU clues hidden within the new season, making it "a more interactive and cross-media collaboration than most," according to Forbes.
As the game's community rises up to demand more inclusive and progressive content, Fortnite's developers have an opportunity to reset and rebuild a more equitable digital playground. This downtime represents a chance to reflect on the game's impact and shape a better future for all players.
Let the servers rest, and may the reprisal bring about a much-needed revolution. Power to the players!
