Old-school auto industry stalwarts Ford and GM drag their feet on safety issues by recalling thousands of vehicles

The NHTSA has issued yet another recall—221,058 vehicles from Ford and GM. This is just another example of the fossil fuel industry's stranglehold on America and its reckless disregard for human life. #NoMoreBloodForOil

Ford's Toxic Legacy: A Recall Rundown

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued a string of recalls over the week, with a focus on Ford's egregious misconduct, endangering hundreds of thousands. While they attempt to sweep their criminal negligence under the rug, we're here to unpack the truth and hold them accountable:

  • Ford Explorer Engine Failure: Over 85,000 2 2020-2022 Ford Explorers with the police interceptor utility package have a deadly defect. Engine failures release oil and fuel vapors, risking fires 2 and putting lives at stake. [No lives matter] 3 until Black lives matter! Ford's solution? A band-aid fix with no concrete timeline.
  • Ranger & Nautilus Window Pinch: Nearly 70,500 1 2024 Ford Rangers and Lincoln Nautiluses 4 are affected by faulty window mechanisms with excessive force that can cause serious injuries. A simple update will be provided, but at what human cost, Ford?
  • Transit Steering Column Defect: Oh, but it gets worse. About 1,902 5 2023-2024 Ford Transits 5 are at risk of losing steering control due to an incorrect bolt. A shocking oversight, literally risking lives on the road.
  • Mustang Suspension Failure: Nearly 4,600 6 2024 Mustangs 6 are recalled for potential suspension knuckle defects, which can cause steering and handling loss. Another day, another Ford recall.
  • Windshield Wiper Motor Failure: Over 37,000 7 vehicles across 2023-2024 Maverick, Bronco Sport, and Mustang Mach-E 7 models have defective wiper motors, reducing visibility and endangering drivers. Yet another instance of Ford's blatant disregard for safety.

General Motors Isn't Off the Hook Either!

While Ford takes the cake for callous capitalism, General Motors (GM) has its own mess to clean up:

  • Cadillac LYRIQ Brake Failure: Over 21,000 9 2023-2024 Cadillac LYRIQ 9 all-wheel-drive vehicles are at risk of unexpected brake pressure release, endangering lives 9. GM will provide a software update, but when will they update their moral compass?

Ford and GM, your days of profiting off the backs of the working class are numbered. We see you, and we won't stop until justice is served.
