A Night of Remembrance & Resistance: Patti Labelle Graces the DNC Stage
Chicago, IL – Legendary songstress Patti Labelle brought her powerhouse vocals to the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday, honoring the late Senator Dianne Feinstein, former First Lady Rosalyn Carter, and ex-Governor Joseph Brennan during the "In Memoriam" segment. The soul icon delivered an emotional rendition of "You Are My Friend," a fitting tribute to these progressive champions.
As the convention enters its second day, themed "A Bold Vision for America's Future," the energy in Chicago is palpable. With the United Center, home of historic victories by the Bulls and Blackhawks, serving as the epicenter, Democrats are gathering to unite against the oppressive forces that threaten our freedoms and the very fabric of our diverse nation.
The keynote speaker for the night, former President Barack Obama, is expected to energize the crowd and remind Americans of the progressive vision we strive for. Watch it live: USA TODAY YouTube livestream.
Vice President Kamala Harris, a beacon of strength and resilience, will accept the party's nomination for the 2024 Election on Thursday, marking a pivotal moment in our fight for equality and progress.
