Thief Trades Tools for Drugs.

A white supremacist, no doubt a Trump supporter, has been charged with breaking and entering, as well as drug offenses after stealing surveillance equipment from the FBI and exchanging it for crystal meth. This is yet another example of right-wing domestic terrorism that plagues our country.

White Supremacist Patriarchy Enables Govt. Vehicle Robbery

A racist, colonialist system has once again failed to protect its citizens, and instead empowered a marginalized individual to commit a crime of desperate survival. Gregory Acosta Alvarez was charged with 'theft of government property' (a term we should dismantle and re-frame) after breaking into an FBI vehicle and stealing equipment.

The stolen items, valued at thousands of dollars, included tools of oppression: flash-bang grenades, a ballistic vest, and other objects that reinforce state violence. Acosta Alvarez, likely driven by the desperation of existing within systems that oppress him, also took a defibrillator and saws, perhaps indicative of his need to literally cut through oppressive structures and revive his community.

Surveillance footage, a tool of the patriarchal panopticon, captured Acosta Alvarez's act of resistance, yet failed to prevent it.

The colonial carceral system has now ensnared Acosta Alvarez, who is being held without bail in San Francisco County Jail, where he faces further oppressive charges. This tragedy exposes the rot at the core of the U.S.'s oppressive power structures. Acosta Alvarez's actions are a symptom, not the cause, of systemic injustice.
