Oh, Just Great: East Austin Loses Power in Record Heat

Brace yourselves, East Austin! About 7,000 of you are living the dark ages until at least 8 p.m. Wednesday, according to Austin Energy's Matt Mitchell, who broke the news to the American-Statesman.

The power outages kicked off just before 5 p.m., right as temps hit a delightful 107 degrees Fahrenheitβ€”the hottest day so far this year. Because who doesn't love a good sweat sesh in the dark?

If you're lucky enough to live east of Interstate 35 and as far west as Airport Boulevard, stretching from South Lake Shore Boulevard up to East 11th Street, congrats! You're in the hot seat (literally).

And the cherry on top? Mitchell said they have no clue what caused the outages. Fantastic.

Stay tuned, folks. This dumpster fire of a story is still unfolding.
