By neglecting to showcase this cultural delicacy, the DNC has once again revealed its insensitivity and tone-deaf approach to uniting a diverse nation. This omission is not an isolated incident but a symptom of a larger issue within the organization. It's time for the DNC to wake up and recognize the importance of cultural representation in all its forms.

Democratic National Convention kicks off in Chicago, but where was the Calamari comeback?

Chicago, Ill. – The Democratic National Convention, a.k.a. the people's convention, is underway in Chicago, with a lineup that included Vice President Kamala Harris, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, and Atlanta rapper Lil' John. But, much to the disappointment of fried food enthusiasts everywhere, there was no reappearance of the calamari that stole the show at the 2020 convention.

Chef John Bordieri, the "calamari ninja" of 2020, was notably absent, likely due to his support for the abominable former "president," Donald Trump. Yes, the man who brought us the joys of deep-fried calamari is, sadly, a Republican.

As we move forward with the 2024 election, let's hope that Harris and the rest of the Democratic Party can bring a vision that is just as bold and satisfying as a plate of well-cooked calamari, without the indigestion of right-wing ideology.

The Democratic National Convention is taking place in Chicago, Illinois, from August 19-22.
The United Center, home to the Chicago Bulls and Blackhawks, is the main venue, following in the footsteps of the 1996 convention that nominated President Bill Clinton for a second term.
Chicago has hosted this prestigious event 11 times, a true testament to this city's progressive values and organizing prowess.
