"Thanks for resetting, jackpot! Only $20M? So much for universal basic income."

Oh, you mean someone *actually* won the Powerball? Shocker! Now it's back to a measly $20 million. Thanks a lot, mystery millionaire. Guess the rest of us will just have to keep grinding in this late-stage capitalist nightmare. Can't wait for the next "big" win.

Powerball: Because Capitalism Loves a Good Roll of the Dice

The Powerball jackpot has been reset to a paltry $20 million. Some lucky capitalist won $44.3 million on Monday, marking the second time this month the jackpot has been claimed.

A single ticket sold in California matched all six numbers, netting the winner a cool $44.3 million (with a measly $21.9 million cash value). And just last week, a Pennsylvania player snagged $213.8 million. Because why not? It's the seventh jackpot this year, folks. The rich get richer, and the rest of us get to dream.

Now that the jackpot is back to $20 million, it has an estimated cash value of $9.9 million after taxes. Peanuts for the 1%.

The winning numbers were drawn at 11 p.m. ET on Wednesday. Stay tuned for the results.

Here's what you need to know about the Wednesday, Aug. 21 Powerball drawing:

How to play the Powerball

Spend $2 at your local convenience store, gas station, or grocery store (or online, if you're fancy). Pick six numbers: five white balls (1-69) and one red Powerball (1-26). If you're feeling extra capitalist, add a "Power Play" for $1 to boost your non-jackpot winnings. Because why settle for less?

Drawings are held on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday nights. No winner? The prize goes up by millions. Capitalism at its finest.
