Brace Yourselves: Pumpkin Spice Armageddon is Near
Buckle up, basic bites—Starbucks just graced us with their annual Pumpkin Spice Latte, because apparently, summer is so last season. And in the arms race of autumnal beverages, Dunkin' fans are left in the cold, wondering when their pumpkin-flavored savior will arrive.
Dunkin', always the tease, has been toying with our emotions on social media all week. On Wednesday, their official Instagram account posted a picture with the caption, "See how we're bringing back pumpkin? Very mindful, very patient, very demure." Right, because nothing says "patience" like counting down the days until we can mainline pumpkin spice. The post also hinted at an August 28 return, spelling it out like a low-key SAT question: "Apparently I'm not allowed to say when pumpkin comes out but it rhymes with shmaugust shwenty shmeighth."
When does Dunkin's fall menu return?
In an email to USA TODAY Friday morning, Dunkin' confirmed the August 28 launch date of the fall menu but decided to play coy about the actual contents. Because who doesn't love a good game of culinary Russian roulette?
On Friday, Dunkin' dropped this bomb on X, aka the artist formerly known as Twitter: "Warn your boyfriends now - pumpkin is back next week." So, if your significant other suddenly leaves you for a pumpkin muffin, you can't say Dunkin' didn't warn you.
What is (maybe) on Dunkin's fall menu?
Dunkin' is giving a side-eye to the trend of companies launching their fall products early enough to make Santa look like a procrastinator. Back in 2023, the company launched its fall menu on August 16, which was earlier than this year's date. Last year's menu was a pumpkin-palooza, featuring the Pumpkin Spice Signature Latte, Nutty Pumpkin Coffee, and a bunch of baked goods that probably had more pumpkin than a Halloween jack-o-lantern.
In 2022, Dunkin' managed to out-fall themselves with an August 10 release date. Just in case you were wondering, yes, that is way too early. Along with the Pumpkin Spice Signature Latte, they also introduced a Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew and a Blood Orange Dunkin' Refresher, because why not?
