Capitalism Strikes Again: Mega Millions Jackpot Soars to Obscene $527 Million
Oh boy, hold onto your ethically-sourced hats, folks! The Mega Millions jackpot has skyrocketed to an estimated $527 million because, you know, no one bothered to win on Tuesday. The drawing is set for Friday just after 11 p.m. ET, because who needs a good night's sleep when you can dream of becoming a multi-millionaire, right?
If Lady Luck happens to be on your side, you could walk away with an estimated $265.6 million lump-sum payment after Uncle Sam takes his cut. Yes, you read that right—almost a quarter of a billion dollars to spend on fixing the world's problems or, you know, buying a small island.
But let's not forget the two lucky ducks who already hit the jackpot this year. In March, a player in New Jersey won a cool $1.13 billion, and in June, a player in Illinois bagged $552 million. Can you even imagine the good they could do with that kind of money?
